Wastewater Treatment Plant
Upgrade Report October 6 2009
The Town is close to placing the Wastewater Treatment Project out for construction bids. Designs are completed and ready for printing. We are waiting final approval from DEQ and the project will be released. A copy of the general site layout is available on this site for review. The system includes a new Membrane Biological Reactor with a design flow of 0.7 MGD capable of meeting a nutrient discharge of 4.0 mg/l total nitrogen and 0.3 mg/l total phosphorus. The system includes new head works facility, biological treatment process, operations building and laboratory, and improvements to the current ultraviolet disinfection and effluent pumping systems. A biosolids dewatering facility is also being added.
A public hearing for the purpose of receiving comments on the Environmental Assessment for this project will be held on November 10, 2009 at the Berryville / Clarke County Government Center at 7:30 pm. A copy is available for review at the Town office Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Written comments should be directed to David Tyrrell, Director of Utilities 101 Chalmers Court, Suite A, Berryville VA 22611and should be post marked by November 10, 2009.
